New Yorkers, there’s a Community Block Party this Sunday, September 25th from 12pm to 5pm to raise awareness and promote community building for The Women’s Building, which, according to its website, will offer social justice leaders the resources and support they need to drive critical change. It’s a workspace – and more. Head to West 20th Street between 12pm and 5pm for the free event!

Must Watch: “Women are beautiful. We are the Earth.” Elite Daily profiled Mightee Shero Productions as the company took The Vagina Monologues to a women’s prison. The piece was performed by formerly incarcerated women and actors from Orange Is the New Black. A great 4-minute video.

Another shout out to The Geena Davis Institute on Gender in Media for leading a project to examine and quantify women’s time on screen. Here’s the latest information (from the Washington Post) about the study and how it may lead to understanding bias against women in terms of screen time.

China Women’s Film Festival opens this weekend and “takes aim at gender” according to the Berkshire Eagle.
