Drama Desk Awards Announced

Last night at Town Hall in New York City, the 57th Annual Drama Desk Awards, honoring Broadway and Off-Broadway, were handed out. Congratulations to Nina Raine. She took home the Outstanding Play Prize for her brilliant, long-running play, Tribes. It has been extended through September 2nd at the Barrow Street Theatre. Lynn Nottage‘s By The Way, Meet Vera Stark, which Works by Women saw in 2011, was also nominated for the award.

Other winners included Tracie Bennett, Outstanding Actress in a Play for her tour-de-force performance in The End of the Rainbow; Audra McDonald, Outstanding Actress in a Musical for The Gershwins’ Porgy and Bess; Judith Light, Outstanding Featured Actress in a Play for Other Desert Cities; and Judy Kaye, Outstanding Featured Actress in a Musical for Nice Work If You Can Get It.
