Supporting creative work by women

The Manhattan Shakespeare Project — Manhattan’s All-Female Shakespeare Company — is in the midst of a seven-night female playwright extravaganza.  From the company’s website:

7 Nights, 21 original, never been produced, one act works-in-progress

20 female playwrights, 21 female directors

The mission of the Playwright’s Festival is to give female playwrights the opportunity to hear their words off the page so they can develop their writing voice with professional actors in front of a live audience.

The Playwright’s Festival kicked off last week, and continues for the next six Mondays, through November 22nd at Theaterlab (137 West 14th Street, between 6th & 7th Ave., in NYC).  Tickets are $5 at Brown Paper Tickets.  Readings start at 7:00 pm.

Here’s where you can find more information on the Manhattan Shakespeare Project.
