Supporting creative work by women
Tickets to the Lark Play Development Center’s 17th Annual Playwrights’ Week are available now by registering online. The tickets are free, and the readings take place October 18 – 23. Last year, I attended Natalia Naman’s Old Ship of Zion as part of Playwrights’ Week, and I just snagged tickets to two of the plays this year.
This year’s offerings under the title Diverse Voices and Vital Perspectives features new work by Gabe McKinley, Michael Mitnick, Laura Marks, Joshua Allen, Stacey O’Neill, Dan Dietz, Laura Jacqmin and Kait Kerrigan. I produced one of Jacqmin’s short plays two years ago as part of a festival, and was quite impressed with her writing.
It is extremely important to support a playwright’s work from the very beginning, and the Lark sets the standard by championing eight playwrights, four of them women through its Playwrights’ Week. For reservations and additional information, visit here.
