According to NYTheatre.com, a site run by the fabulous Martin and Rochelle Denton, there are nearly 40 productions written by women on the New York boards as February opens. The works include Freckleface Strawberry, a musical based on Julianne Moore’s children’s books; Red Fern Theatre’s Gentrifusion, a collection of short plays about gentrification; a revival of Sarah Ruhl’s Eurydice; American Sexy, Trisha Baldwin’s new drama; and a revival of The Drowsy Chaperone at Gallery Players.
This is in addition to the plays that Works by Women is seeing this month: Apple Cove at the Women’s Project, Flux Theatre Ensemble’s Dog Act, Korach by legendary Judith Malina, and Blessed Unrest’s revival of Machinal by Sophie Treadwell. Please join us, if you can, and support these works by women.
Thank you to Martin and Rochelle Denton for making it easy for New York theatergoers to find works by women.
